30 Day Prenatal Fitness Challenge

Of all the free stock images I could choose, this one seemed the closest to what it feels like to work out while pregnant.

There are a whole host of medical reasons why staying fit during your pregnancy is good for you and your baby. But, anecdotally, I credit being fit while pregnant with Chewie as the reason I endured my epically-long delivery. With Chewie, I treated pregnancy like training for a marathon. I was always eating healthy and was always at the gym.

The second time around...eh, not so much. New levels of exhaustion enter the picture when you're chasing after (and negotiating with) a toddler during the day. And all that added stress has made me a little more likely to say "I'm going to just eat takeout instead of that salad, I deserve it" or "I need sleep more than I need the gym." Plus, being pregnant during the winter really crushes any motivation for long walks or even getting to the gym. So, while I haven't put on a ton of weight, I just feel weaker than before.

So, in a "better late than never" strategy, I'm going to be creating my own B+ Prenatal Fitness Challenge. This is really just something to keep ME accountable to working out, but if it helps others, then awesome. In true B+ fashion, these are goals that are meant to be obtainable to a working-pregnant-mom who also has a toddler, or just a regular pregnant lady who feels sick and exhuasted during her pregnancy (aka, most women). Some of the days are simply about eating healthy, but feel free to do those throughout the week if you want a gold star.

I realize our schedules are often crazy, so I've broken this up by 4 weeks (with two free days), and you can mix and match however you want. I'll be starting (and possibly posting about) this next week, but you can begin it anytime. Best of luck, and remember, even doing what you can is better than nothing!
