Halloween Happenings Boston 2014

Boston has been voted one of the best cities for Halloween activities, and once I went to compile the list, I can see why. You could almost celebrate for two weeks straight with all the events this city has going! Here are some of the events we're going to try make it to. If you see Chewbacca dressed as a dragon/pumpkin/wookie, be sure to say hi! Here's what's happening this year:

Saturday October 25:

  • South End Rutland Street Festival: From 9:30-11:30am, located on Rutland street, dress up for a children's pumpkin painting party. Pumpkins are $10 each.

  • Castle Island: From 12-4pm, Castle Island is transformed into a Halloween wonderland. Full details here.

  • Franklin Park Halloween Hike: From 7-9pm, go on a spooky hike in Franklin park, flashlights not allowed. Not suggested for smaller kids, but could be lots of fun for older kids and kids at heart. Full details here.

  • Halloween Fair in Newton: From 10am-1pm, located at Fair at Family ACCSS (formerly known as the Newton Community Service Center). There will be cookie and apple decorating, crafts, face painting, and a Halloween Maze. Children (and their adults) are encouraged to wear costumes. Located at 92 Waltham St., West Newton, MA 02465.   • North End Halloween Parade: From 1-3pm on Hanover Street. Rain date October 26th. Full details here.

  • Blackstone Square Halloween Festival: From 12-4pm complete with a graveyard tour. Full details here.

  • LEXFun Halloween Parade: Starting at 10am following Elmo in a parade around Battle Green in Lexington. Bring your favorite noise maker and some tuna fish to donate to the Lexington Food Pantry.

Sunday October 26:

  • Boo at the Pru: From 11am-1pm, bring your kids in costume for trick or treating at over 50 stores. Activities will also include face painting, magic shows, pumpkin decorating and more. Full info here.

  • Castle Island: From 12-4pm, Castle Island is transformed into a Halloween wonderland. Full details here.

  • Camp Everwood Halloween Fest Sharon, MA: From 11-2:30pm, there will be arts and crafts, hay rides, face painting and trick or treating. Full details here.

  • Cambridge Trick or Treat to the Beat: From 5-6:30pm, at the New School of Music, complete with music, a petting zoo, and trick or treating. Full details here.

  • Halloween Bash at Ready, Set, Kids Arlington: From 3-5:30pm. Free admission with a donation to the food pantry. Zumba dance class, crafts and treats. Also a professional photographer for mini sessions of your kids all dressed up for only $20. Full details here.

  • Newton Halloween Party: From 3:30-5:30pm. Join the Newton Mother's Association for a party at the Newton Boys and Girls club with the Stacey Peasley Band. Free for NMF members, $10 for others. Full details here.

  • Hayes Park Harvestfest: From 2-4pm, located at the corner of W. Canton and Warren Street in the South End. They'll have cider, cookies, face painting, Jenny the Juggler and more. Costumes welcome

Monday October 27:

  • Little Lovage Club Open Play: From 4-6pm at the Little Lovage Club in the South End for dress up and open play time with sensory activities with a spooky theme. $10 a child/$8 sibiling. Register here.

  • North End Pumpkin Painting: From 3-5pm at the Prado (where the Paul Revere statute is on Hanover street). Pumpkins are $5 and all supplies will be provided.

Wednesday October 29:

  • Tadpole Halloween Block Party: From 4:30-6:30pm at the Tadpole store. Music, food, and a bouncy house. Details here.

  • The Great Pumpkin Glow: From 4:30-7:30pm, supporting the Boys and Girls Club. Pumpkin carving competition in Kendall Square. Open to the public. Full details here.

Thursday October 30:

  • Halloween Story Time and Parade at Fanieul Hall: From 10:30am-11:30am at Make Way For Ducklings in Fanieul Hall. Full details here.

  • Hill House Halloween Party: From 3-5pm. Free to the community. Face painting and more. Details here.

  • Cambridgeside Galleria Trick or Treat: From 4-6pm, visit the Halloween Hideout and trick or treat at the mall. Full details here.

  • Cambridge Movin and Groovin Class: 10am for 0-17months; 11am for toddlers up to 3 years old. At the UU Church in Harvard Square. $15/family. RSVP to Alice here.

  • Dorchester Pumpkin Float: Starting at 5:30pm at Pope John Paul II Park at the Hallet Street Enterence. Full details here.

Friday October 31:

  • Clarendon Playground Party: From 4-6pm. Magic show starting at 4:45 and a hayride around the neighborhood. Full details here.

  • Titus Sparrow Park Party: From 5pm onward. Pre-trick or treating with activities and treats. Full details here.

  • Charlestown Halloween Parade: From 5pm onward. Meet at the Bunker Hill Monument and the parade starts from there. Costumes suggested for all ages. Full details here.

  • North End Halloween Party: From 6-7pm. Free and open to the public. Wear your costumes and enjoy the music, games, candy, and crafts. Trick or treating available before on Hanover street.

  • Boston Public Library Copley Halloween Story Time: At 3pm. Children 7 and under are welcome to wear costumes and enjoy Halloween themed story time.
